Hand-Knotted Afghan Baluch Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Afghan Baluch area rug. This wool rug features eight gable motifs infilled with arrow repeats dissected by a barber pole worked in honey and coffee. The remaining field offers ashik patterns which flank each medallion in coffee over a grey background. Framing the field is sawtooth border and a series of diamond repeats on the diagonal which is flanked by S chains. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing with short ivory warp fringe at either end. Labeled with a tag to the verso indicating country of origin.
