German Franz Hermle "Atlas" Wall Clock

Item Details

A German Franz Hermle Atlas wall clock. This ornately designed clock features a wooden case with a carved back plate, while accented with brass twisted columns, an elaborate lower finial, and topped with a figurative gallery. The brass gallery itself is inscribed with an Old Dutch saying, ‘Nu. Elck. Syn. Sin.’ that translates to ‘now everybody gets what he wants’, and also depicts three figures depicting faith, hope, and charity. The gallery highlights a figurine of Atlas holding a globe in the center rising on a pole. The clock face displays both Roman and Arabic numbers along with a scalloped chapter ring, ornate brass hands, and appliques in the corners. Finishing the clock are hanging chains and tear drop shaped weights. The verso is open to the clock mechanism, and it is marked ‘FHS’, ‘Germany’.
