Semi-Antique Central Asian Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique Central Asian village/tribal area rug. This wool rug is hand knotted in a wide-ranging palette leaning toward mauve, shades of pink, sapphire, cream, ochre and olive. It features an allover lattice of octagons, each containing an eight-point star in different colors and ground colors. The field is framed by compound, unresolved borders, including a stylized leaf-and-flower meander pattern over mauve and olive and two carnation meander minor borders over cream. Selvedges, which are not original to the rug, are serged. Ends finish with unbound wool warp fringe. A label on the reverse has been cut away.
