A finely hand-knotted Persian Kashan wool area rug. This fine wool rug is rendered in a palette of ivory. powder, sapphire, umber, saffron, taupe, and cranberry. The ivory colored field features all-over scrolling vinework with curling leaves, palemettes, and blossoms, along with smaller motifs in powder blue, all beginning with a central rosette. The ornately detailed field is framed with a stylized herati border with added floral clusters and leaf forms, along with a pair of carnation meander guard borders, and minor sawtooth borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and short knotted wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
