Bill Schiffer Op Art Serigraphs of Triangular Patterns

Item Details

Paper
By the Artist’s Hand

A pair of artist’s proof serigraph prints on paper by contemporary American artist Bill Schiffer (20th-21st centuries). Each Op Art-inspired piece depicts a gridded plane with rows of silver tone triangles arranged against an off-white ground, bordered in black and silver tone lines to the perimeter. Each piece is signed ‘B. Schiffer’ in black ink to the lower right and inscribed ‘A.P.’ to the lower left. They are presented unmounted and unframed.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two-dimensional and three-dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
