An antique needlework sampler featuring the Bargello style of design in wool yarns on a cotton open-weave ground. This style of needlepoint uses vertical stitching in colorful geometric designs based on the Florentine Bargello Palace chairs. This sampler features a variety of hand-stitched, counted work in in stepped and tiled designs featuring the flame motif, diamonds, stars, and lattice patterns. It is unsigned and presented in a painted black and gold tone wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

- to Fair; some discoloration to ground; marks to ground particularly to lower edge; scratches and wear throughout frame; gaps to corners of frame.
