A late 20th-century East Asian gouache painting on paper. The piece depicts two multicolored butterflies hovering near the branches of a flowering tree with small green leaves and delicate white, yellow and orange blooms. The work is inscribed with black ink and a red seal to the upper left. It is matted in taupe and presented under acrylic glazing in a bamboo-motif wooden frame with gold tone finish, fitted with hanging wire to the verso. The frame backing is stamped to the verso with ‘1981’ and ‘the Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA’.

Condition

- minor discoloration to paper; smudges to mat board; scuffs and edge wear to frame; hanging wire is mis-oriented.
