Small Dome Top Trunk, Circa 1880s

Item Details

A small antique dome top trunk, circa 1880s. The wooden trunk features hand forged nails and original hinge hardware, brass-toned nail decorations to the top and front edge, leather straps to the interior and a dotted paper lined interior with matching underside lining. Drilled holes on each side and top for carrying handles are evident. An original paper label to the interior states ‘James Riley, Military Cap, Trunk, Collar and Harness Maker/Boston’. A James Riley, harness maker, is listed in a Boston business directory of 1882.

Condition

- appears to have insect damage; broken leather interior straps; nail missing from hardware; carrying handles to top and sides are missing.
