Vintage Hand-Painted Russian Lacquerware Boxes
Item Details
A pairing of vintage hand-painted lacquerware boxes from Russia. Included is a rectangular box depicting three figures riding across a snowy landscape in a horse drawn sleigh. It is signed and appears to be dated 1983. It is accompanied by an oval box depicting the Russian fairytale of Prince Ivan and the Firebird. The box is finished with filigree trim. Each piece is finished with a gloss black glaze and marked to the base indicating production in the U.S.S.R, c. 1922-1991.
