A Navajo sterling silver Rug Pattern belt buckle by renowned Native American artisan Alfred Joe. The buckle comprises three medallions with a textured and serrated rug pattern down the center. The belt buckle is currently attached to a brown leather strap, it fastens by two hooks and loops allowing one the option of creating a buckle with three medallions or two. The center medallion is signed ‘sterling’ (faintly) with the artisans initials in a horse shoe shape.
Alfred Joe is a Navajo jewelry artist taught by his Uncle Colbert Joe. Since 1972, Alfred Joe has received numerous awards and was bestowed the prestigious Artist of the Year title by The Indian Arts and Crafts Association in 2001. The total approximate weight is 4.165 ozt.
