A mid-century etching on paper after an 1888 work by artist Amos W. Sangster (Canadian-American, 1833-1904). The print, depicting river rapids, is plate LXXXIII from the series Niagara River and Falls from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, a collection of over one hundred intaglio images of the Niagara River created after Sangster’s plein air illustrations. The piece is signed in plate to the lower left, reading ‘A.W. Sangster, copyright 1888’, and marked ‘LXXXIII’ in plate to the lower right. It is matted in green and presented under glass in a wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso. For more information about Sangster, please refer to the link in Additional Information.

- minor foxing and discoloration to print; surface wear and scratches to frame.
