Antique 1916 National Cash Register Model 336
Item Details
An antique National Cash Register model 336, circa 1916, featuring a ‘dolphin’ pattern cabinet with a marble-topped drawer; glass windowed top with black and white metal denomination cards to the interior; and the ornate embossed brass paneling throughout with arabesque and floral designs of the ‘dolphin’ pattern. The drawer is embossed ‘National’ to the front and the keys each features a white on black design in a silver bezel, with the exception of the No Sale button which features a black on orange design in a silver bezel. The piece is tagged with the model number 336 and serial number S106392. The piece features a lidded compartment to the side with access to interior gearing and the hinged front lid lifts to reveal the inner workings of the register with a single key in lock noted to the gearing. The drawer includes multiple drawers for the storage of coins and currency and the underside of the drawer is tagged with patent dates from Apr. 25, 1893, to March 2, 1915. An original sale tag is also found to the underside of the drawer with date of sale 11/20/16; serial and model numbers; and the name of the original buyer and seller.
Condition
- opening mechanism sticks and could benefit from maintenance/cleaning; one key is stuck down; a few chips in the marble noted; some oxidation; untested.
