A lithograph on paper by listed artist Anthony Scornavacca (American, 1926 – 1986), dated 1972. The work illustrates a posed female nude. The figure is rendered in sparse line work and shading that suggest, rather than depict, the figure. To the upper right is the in-plate signature and date.

Scornavacca was known for his modernist abstract figural works. The artist received his formal education from the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. During the 1950s, the artist relocated from New York to Miami, Florida, where he was a successful gallery owner. Today, Scornavacca’s works can be found in private and public collections including the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, Georgia) and the Hood Museum of Art (Dartmouth College; Hanover, New Hampshire).
