A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug. This wool area rug is hand-knotted in a palette of navy, red, mustard, moss green, white, sky blue, and ocher. The rug features a classic Kashan-style scalloped diamond shaped center medallion on a field densely patterned with Shah Abbasi palmettes, curvilinear vines, and leaves. These design motifs continue in the tri-color corner brackets. The rug is framed with carnation meander guard borders and a herati pattern main border. It is finished with overcast selvedges and short fringe to either end.
