Brass Reproduction Sculpture After J.E. Fraser "The End of the Trail"

A contemporary cast brass sculpture after works in plaster and bronze by listed artist James Earle Fraser (American, 1876 – 1953) titled The End of the Trail. The piece depicts a Native American figure on horseback, his head bowed as his steed stumbles at the edge of a cliff. The work is signed ‘J.E. Fraser’ in mold below the horse’s rear legs, just above the base. The work is mounted to an elliptical stepped black marble base that includes a metal plate bearing the artist’s name and work title.
Item tested as 92.19% copper, 5.03% zinc and 2% iron.
Condition
- minor markings and wear to sculpture; scuff marks and scratches throughout base; accretion and dust to sculpture and felt liner; scratches to placard.
