A limited edition wood engraving on paper by Auguste Lepère (French, 1849 – 1918) titled Inspection at the Exposition Universelle after 19th century French artist Honore Daumier (1808-1879). This intricately carved relief print depicts two men in a crowd. The man wearing a hat on the right examines a card closely as the older figure on the right removes his hat and spectacles. The work is signed in plate reading ‘Daumier,’ as well as ‘A. Lepere’. Hand written text in French language is written on the lower right corner of the mat, above a signature reading ‘Lionel Barrymore.’ It is hand numbered 68 in an edition of 75 in graphite by an unknown hand under the mat. The work is presented unframed, in a card stock mat with cut out window.

- toning to edges of matting; tear to the lower left of mat; worn/fraying edges.
