Antique Moroccan Inlaid Cabinet

Item Details

A vintage, highly ornate inlaid Moroccan cabinet. The cabinet is made of various types of light and dark woods, featuring intricate pierced fretwork and inlay throughout. A dark wood panel with balls and spindles sits at the center top, with a carved frieze below. Cabinets at the top center and bottom center also feature intricate ball and spindle screened panels. The top center cabinet is flanked by half-round display shelves with gallery rails and inlaid bone, mother of pearl and dark colored woods in geometric patterns to the backs. Below the top center cabinet is an open shelf with two arched openings, trimmed with lacy scroll-cut and inlaid wood. The bottom has a stepped front with an overhung top, below which are three dovetailed drawers with intricately carved and inlaid fronts. The lower cabinet contains a shelf, and there are open shelves with arched tops and gallery rails to either side. It has a molded base and rests on short, round wood feet. No maker’s marks. This item matches item 18DEN036-359.

Condition

- to Fair; wood fretwork and carvings are very fragile; some chips, some nicks and dings, surface scratches and light wear throughout; wood has some cracks in areas, and there are some small pieces of missing wood trim; some wear to inlay in areas; handwriting, stains, tape and tape residue to interior shelves; this item has trim that is extremely fragile and delicate, however it appears to come apart in two pieces for easier transport, and it is located on a main floor.
