W.H. Kabul Indonesian Batik Cloth
Item Details
An Indonesian batik cloth by Yogyakarta-based artist Wiji Hartono Kabul. This piece was created using a wax resist method of dyeing the cloth that creates a signature ‘cracked’ texture on the piece. It depicts two horses and a dragon-like figure from Indonesian mythology on a gradated, rainbow roll ground. The piece is signed and dated 1992 to the lower right and presented behind glass in a thin wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
