Bukuso Iron Currency Hoe

A Bukuso iron currency hoe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo near Mt. Elgon, collected circa 1987. This hoe features a spade face and long tapered handle. Iron hoes and other metal items were used as a one of the first forms of trade currency.

Condition

- rusting to metal; iron is becoming brittle; dust and accretions.
