1990 Steiff Replica of 1908 "Alfonzo" Teddy Bear

A vintage Alfonzo teddy bear by Steiff. Featured is a limited edition teddy bear with bright red mohair fur, a jointed body filled with period wood-wool stuffing, black boot button eyes, and felt paw pads. This replica of Steiff’s 1908 version wears an orange sateen suit with white trim and presents with the original white ‘button in ear’ tag, certificate of authenticity, and EAN 406195.
The original Alfonzo bear was commissioned in 1908 for Princess Xenia Georgievna, the daughter of Grand Duke George Michailovich of Russia. She took the bear along with her on a visit to England in 1914, but World War One started, and she and her bear were never able to return to Russia. She kept Alfonzo until her death in 1965.
