A mid-century woodblock shin-hanga print titled Asakusa Kinryuzan (浅草金龍山) by Japanese artist Tsuchiya Kōitsu (土屋光逸, 1870-1949). Featured is a nocturnal view of the Kinryusan Buddhist temple in Asakusa, Japan. The work is signed in block “Kōitsu” (光逸) alongside the artist’s “Shin” (真) seal to the lower right corner. The print’s Japanese title and date (Showa 23 = 1948) are printed in the right margin. The print is presented matted and housed in a wooden frame with an paper liner beneath glass.
Condition
- slight billowing to paper; slight toning to mat; some dust and accretions to glass and frame; dents and scratches to frame.
