Power-Loomed Capel "Khorsabad" Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A power-loomed Khorsabad wool area rug by Capel. The rug has been worked in a palette which includes ivory, pomegranate, amber, black, gray, mustard, salmon, and robin’s egg blue. The rug features a lobed pendant medallion on a black field which is densely infilled with scrolling vines and blooming flowers. There are vases with flowers incorporated into the broken borders which have samovar motifs paired with vines, leaves, and a variety of flowers. The selvedges have been serged and there is applied fringe on the ends. The Capel and Khorsabad labels are affixed to the underside.
