Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Heriz wool area rug. This rug features a central lobed medallion with a serrated edge and pendants in a palette of deep blue, red-orange, muted green, and ecru. The main cream or ecru field is patterned with flowering vines, lancet leaves and palmettes in blue, brownish-red, green, deep blue, and tan. The samovar border is flanked by secondary borders featuring floral meander motif. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short mesh skirts and decoratively knotted cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
