Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Kerman-Style Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Kerman-style area rug. This wool rug begins with a large floral medallion and attached pendants to the center of a rich crimson field. It offers layered spandrels that extend to the inner field verge with large shah abbasi and floral vase forms. It is worked in ice blue, fern, ivory, salmon, ecru, indigo and mocha. Framing the rug are multiple borders including carnation meander and a wide stylized herati border in the field colors. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with a kilim skirt and long cotton knotted fringe at either end. It is not labeled.
