Hand-Knotted Tibetan Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Tibetan wool area rug. The rug has been woven in a palette of teal, lavender, ivory, chocolate, wine, olive, ivory, mustard, and black. A pattern of large stylized herati fills the field in a conjoined rectilinear pattern. The compound border incorporates multiple guard bands featuring geometric and cruciform elements and stylized flower and meander designs. The primary herati border is unresolved and is integrated into one of the inner borders. The selvedges have been overcast and there is short cotton kilim skirt and dense cotton warp fringe at each end. There are faded labels attached to the underside. Woven in Nepal.
