A semi-antique hand-knotted Persian Sarouk wool area rug. This rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of cranberry-rose, camel, indigo, powder blue, tawny brown, rust, olive, teal, and gold. The cranberry to rose hued field begins with a unique star shaped medallion with ornately designed pendants ending in hanging cartouches. The field also features urn-like forms, boteh motifs, lancette leaves, palmettes, and floral motifs. Framing the field is an equally elaborate main border with boteh, palmettes, and leafy vines, along with multiple floral meander guard borders; with one of the guard borders having a different inscription at either end. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and an extremely short warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
