An oil painting on canvas. This piece depicts the ‘sacred garden’ courtyard in the Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, with the campanario wall of bells overgrown in flowers. The piece is signed to the lower left and partially reads ‘Roe…j’. There is a personal inscription to the verso, and the piece is presented in a wood frame with a gold tone placard to the lower center reading ‘Capistrano’, a linen liner, and wire to the verso for hanging.

- minor wear to edges of frame; dust and accretions present to frame and painting surface; discoloration to linen liner and verso.
