A pair of 19th century watercolors on paper. The works depict German genre scenes comprised of two couples interacting in a rural setting. The compositions are unsigned. To the verso, illegible inscriptions in German accompanied by names and life dates of the artists Charles Victor Lefebvre (1805-1882) and Gaertner. The pieces are presented behind glass, housed in matching wood frames.
Condition
- toning, foxing, scattered stains and discoloration throughout the watercolors; slight wear throughout wood frames.
