Antique Guanyin Polychrome and Gilt Statue

An antique polychromed and gilt figure of Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the bodhisattva of compassion. The elegant bodhisattva is seated in the royal ease pose or the rajalila asana upon a base resembling a craggy rock. She holds a strand of Buddhist prayer beads. The statue is subtly polychromed in deep red with black accents and embellished overall with extensive gilding. Unmarked, the statue is presented upon a simple wooden stand.
