A power-loomed Anatolian village wool area rug, likely cottage industry production. This rectangular rug has been worked in a faux abrash palette of clementine, persimmon, indigo, sky blue, sand, turmeric, wine, scarlet, camel, and ivory. The design of the rug incorporates geometric stepped and abstract motifs with Memling guls, endless knot patterns, and star medallions. The wide compound border features bands with flower and meander motifs which flank boxed eight-pointed and cruciform devices. The ends of the rug have been turned under and secured. It is not marked.
