French Louis XVI Period Marquetry Commode

A fine antique French Louis XVI to Directoire period commode, in the Neo-classical taste; late 18th century to the first quarter of the 19th century, demilune in form, covered in delightful marquetry work, rendered in kingwood and fruitwoods inlaid demilune cabinet. The Rojo Bilboa marble top overhangs three aligned drawers with ring pull handles over two central stacked drawers. The drawers feature a floral inlay motif and hand-cut dovetail joinery. The center drawers are flanked by cabinet doors on each side. The cabinet doors open to a single shelf. This piece terminates on tapering feet.
