Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian long rug. This wool rug begins with a series of large floral medallions, lobed flower head filled cartouches and floral motifs. It has a thick short pile rendered in a rich, saturated deep crimson ground with azure, periwinkle, gold, black, hues of green and plum accents. Framing the field is a floral meander guard border and a main border with Shah Abbasi and split leaf pendants worked in the field colors. Selvedges are overcast in stripes, finishing with ivory warp fringe at either end. It is unlabeled.
