Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian wool long rug attributed to Hamadan weavers. The rug is rendered in saturated shades of deep crimson, wine, bright indigo, salmon, turmeric, flamingo, clementine, espresso brown, charcoal, and ivory. The design features a large lobed central pendant medallion infilled with geometric floral motifs and framed by rectilinear scrolls. The pendant motifs include flowering plants. The compound borders include a reciprocal running dog pattern bad paired with two floral bands. The selvedges are hand sewn overcast and there is dense cotton warp fringe at each end. Unmarked.
