A 1994 limited edition bronze sculpture of a lion by well-listed American artist Mark Hopkins. This highly detailed piece features a lion’s face framed by a wildly flowing mane. The big cat’s mouth is open in a snarl and its eyes are finished with a gold-tone patina. The work is signed, dated ’94 and marked 290 in an edition of 750 to the verso. It is presented on an organically shaped base with felt to the underside.

Item tested as 97.26% copper and 1.5% manganese.

Condition

- some accretion to lower center area; surface wear throughout with some loss to finish.
