An oil painting on canvas by well-listed artist Pierre Labrouche (France; 1876-1956). This Romantic painting depicts a coastal landscape featuring crashing waves against a jagged shoreline and a storm developing in the distance. The work is signed tot he lower left and presented in a Rococo Revival style gilt frame.

Pierre Labrouche was born in France in 1876. He was an engraver, etcher, and painter known for his use of light and shade comparable to the famous painters Claude Monet and Gabriel Deschamps. Labrouche exhibited at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Société de la Gravure originale en couleurs.

- wear to edges of frame; cracking to lower margin of frame gesso; minor cracking present to all margins of frame; dust and accretions present to frame and verso.
