Lipót Illencz Oil Painting

Item Details

Lipót Illencz (1882–1950)
Untitled
Oil painting on canvas
Signed to the lower right

The oil depicted here is a fine example of Illencz’s illustrative work, depicting a picknicking woman and farmer in a field. The very fitting Arts & Crafts frame echoes the early 20th century softness of the work itself.

Illencz was a Hungarian born painter who trained at the Munich School, though he did not adopt the dark, often moody brushwork emblematic of that school.
