A circa 1933 lithograph advertising poster for French actress and musician Mistinguett (b. Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois, 1875 – 1956), by Austrian artist Fritz Weninger (1892 – 1981), printed by Atelier König and published by Waldheim-Eberle A.G. of Vienna. The oversized piece is printed over three sheets and depicts the famous performer smiling with wide-eyed expression, wearing a red-and-white polka dotted dress and a pink knit cap. The image features blue and red decorative text of ‘Mistinguett’ printed in plate to the bottom, with a signature in plate of ‘Atelier König, Weninger, 1933’ to the center right, and publishing information of ‘Imprimé en Autriche, Waldheim-Eberle A.G., Vienne’ printed to the lower margin. It is presented under UV plexiglass in a black wooden frame.
Condition
- some rippling, creasing and warping to paper throughout, repaired tears to right side; work is printed on three sheets; water damage and staining to bottom; toning and discoloration to image; edge wear to paper; minor wear to frame.
