A 19th century profile portrait of a brooding gentleman, stylistically akin to the Munich School, and loose in its rendering. Housed in a period 19th century gilt and gesso frame. Believed to be a self portrait of the artist.

- some scratches and wear to the edges of the frame; additional chips and wear to the face of the frame; extensive craquelure and chips throughout the surface of the canvas; to the verso, wear and staining to the canvas.
