Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Khamseh Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Khamseh Confederacy area rug. This wool rug begins with a pole of hooked medallions to the center field. The remaining field is filled with stylized plant forms, imaginary animal motifs, thematic symbols and geometric floral elements. It is worked in a palette of caramel, black, ivory, charcoal and honey. Framing the rug is a reciprocating diamond pattern with rectilinear patterns flanked by a pair of barber pole guard borders. Selvedges are overcast in stripes, the rug finishing with warp fringe made of goat hair at either end. Unlabeled.
