1870s Complete Set of "Picturesque Europe"

An antique complete set of Picturesque Europe: A Delineation by Pen and Pencil of the Natural Features and the Picturesque and Historical Places of Great Britain and the Continent, edited by Bayard Taylor. This set includes volume one (1875), volume two (1878), and volume three (1879), each stated as having steel and wood engraved illustrations throughout. The set was published by D. Appleton and Co. of New York. Each volume is presented in a two-toned leather cover, with a stylized gilt seal to the front, raised bands to the spine, and gilt finished edges.

Condition

- volume three shows damage to the back board; overs show scuffs and fading; edge wear; leather peeling and some red rot to cap and tail; spine and corner bumping; loose hinges with signs of previous repair; page toning with some foxing; some water damage spotting, creases, and slight tearing to some pages.
