Vintage Train Photographs and Ephemera

Item Details

Historical
Unframed

A large collection of mid-to-late 20th-century railroad-themed photography, cards and ephemera, most dating from the 1940’s-80’s. Featured are approximately one hundred photographs and train publications depicting locomotive engines and train cars, including both black-and-white photos and a few copies of the Main Central Messenger. Rail lines depicted include Chicago and Eastern Illinois, New Haven, and a calendar for C&O/B&O railroads. The items are unsigned and presented unframed. Many include handwritten or typed notes to the verso with information about the trains.

These images were taken by Don or Dan Dover, or given by fans to be used as source, reference, or research material by the Dovers for their use in Extra 2200 South, a well-respected rail fan magazine the family published from 1968 into the early 1990’s.
