A European late 19th century oil painting appearing to be signed ‘Ferrat,’ presented in an Art Nouveau frame. The work depicts two field workers threshing grain, one lifting a bundle with a sickle in hand and the other bending to arrange the stalks in a neat heap. The piece is signed and dated somewhat illegibly, reading either ‘Ferrat 78’ or ‘Ferrat 98,’ to its lower right corner, and is mounted in a dark frame with molded gold tone detailing and a wire for hanging.

Condition

- patch to upper right with in-painting to front; cracks throughout paint; hole with additional paint loss to upper left; abrasions with paint loss along left side; abrasions to painting at corners; chips to gesso molding throughout frame; some discoloration to finish of frame.
