Hand-Knotted Persian "Sarouk" Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian village area rug. This wool rug features a Sarouk-style floral design in a palette of ruby, hot pink, cream, apricot, indigo and taupe. It begins with a tree of life vertically bisecting the ruby field; on each side of the tree are two vases with bouquets amid floral fillers. Compound borders frame the field. These include a stylized herati main border featuring meandering palmettes and flowers over cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is labeled ‘Made in Iran’ on the reverse.
