Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Malayer Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Malayer area rug. This wool rug offers a floral diamond medallion with a serrated edge and hanging pendants. It is densely populated with geometric diamond elements including boteh, flower heads and animal motifs framed by a sawtooth border. This rug is worked in abrash hues of watermelon, azure, ivory, caramel, mint green, grey brown and black. Framing the rug is a wide Samovar border grounded in charcoal flanked by chi-chi guard borders over watermelon. Selvedges are overcast in black, finishing with short natural fringe at either end. Labeled with a tag to the verso indicating country of origin.
