Hand-Knotted Afshan Quchan Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Afshan Quchan area rug. It features a large serrated ashik-style gul with attached crenelated medallions to the center field. Joining the field are rectilinear shaped spandrels with a geometric floral motif at each corner. It is rendered in cranberry, black, indigo, ivory, fern and caramel. Framing the rug are floral meander borders in the field colors. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with a bound cotton kilim skirt that has an embroidered stitch at either end. Unlabeled.
