Vintage Hand-Knotted Turkmen Sariq/Uzbek Wool Prayer Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Turkmen Sariq/Uzbek prayer rug. This prayer rug has a mihrab design to the top portion with three arches and the lower section with boxed, serrated and hooked designs. It features hooked amulet or comb devices to the top corners with flag pendants atop each arch. This piece is worked in cranberry, black and ivory throughout. Framing the field are reciprocal sawtooth and and Uzbek-style ‘T’ pattern. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with goat hair fringe at each end. Unlabeled.
