A gyotaku print with hand embellishment titled Tarpon by Kimberly Parker. This print is taken from a Tarpon fish with expressive detailing and a vibrant color palette. This print is signed to the lower right corner of the paper. It is marked with a label to the frame backing which reads Gyotaku ‘is an ancient Asian are form that was brough to the United Stated by Japanese fishermen who used it as a means to record their catches. The fish’s eyes are remove to make a better print and later replaced ‘to give the fish its spirit back’. The fish is inked and then printed on paper and cloth, leaving an exact image and therefore a true record’. This piece is presented in a wooden frame, under glass, with a wire hanger to the verso.
