A French Empire style needlepoint wool area rug. This handsome rug features a center field comprised of twenty-four acanthus leaf neoclassical medallions in a palette of bright brown, tan, cream, ivory, and azure blue. The center field is surrounded by a narrow border of repeating bellflowers in a neutral palette on an azure field. The rug is unlined to the back and is unmarked.
