A hand-knotted Caucasian Karabagh wool long rug. This rug is rendered in a vibrant palette of crimson, clementine, emerald, carnation, saffron, sepia, cerulean, wheat, black, indigo, and white. The variegated crimson colored lozenge begins with four bold cruciform shaped medallions infilled with floral motifs, and it features more floral motifs along with a calyx patterned border, as well as black grounded spandrels. Framing the field is a diamond and ram’s horn patterned border, a meandering ribbon guard border, and minor borders in a checked pattern. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a short twisted wool warp fringe to one end, while the other is longer. Unlabeled.
