A 19th century Henry II Black Forest cuckoo clock. The clock is a rare Black Forest cuckoo clock made for the French market circa 1880. The clock features a Cherry finish on select hardwoods and veneers with a broken arch pediment bonnet and a carved urn finial above a fretwork crest. Other features of the clock include a decorative wood door with a cuckoo bird that appears on the half hour and hour with chimes. The clock also features ring turned side columns on corner blocks and a raised wood face with black Roman numerals on white hour markers with white metal hands. The clock features a rare spring driven movement that is the masterpiece of Alexander Fleig of Triberg, Germany, and a plinth style base with decorative wood applique and turned finials on the underside.
